How to measure your cabinet — quick guide
1

Identify your cabinet

Face-frameA wood frame narrows the front opening.
FramelessNo front frame. Check the inside width.
2

Measure the usable space

Opening width
Open the door. Measure the narrowest clear width, allowing for hinges and the center stile.
Usable depth
Measure from the inside front to the back wall or nearest obstruction.
Usable height
Measure from the cabinet floor to the drawer, rail, sink or plumbing above.
3

Check the exact model

Use the fit filters, then select Check cabinet fit on a product. Match all dimensions to the same model and cabinet construction.

An 18-inch cabinet is not an 18-inch opening.

For example, an 18-inch cabinet with two 1½-inch frame sides has a 15-inch opening before hinges or other obstructions.

Side-mounted systems may require an exact inside width or a width range. Bigger is not always compatible.

Before you order: drawers, hinges, plumbing and door mounting

Check for a drawer above the opening, a center stile between two doors, pipes, hinges and shelves. Full-height models may not fit below a drawer. Confirm whether the system attaches to the cabinet floor, sides or door, and whether the door-mount kit is included. Bin capacity (quarts or liters) does not tell you cabinet fit.

Pull-out trash cans and recycling bins for kitchen cabinets

Make everyday cleanup easier with a waste container that keeps bins inside your kitchen cabinet. Choose a single pull-out trash can for everyday waste, a double-bin system to separate trash and recycling, or a door-mounted bin for a compact setup. Compare models from ROK, Rev-A-Shelf, Salice, Hailo and other cabinet-organizer brands.

Choose by cabinet fit first

Measure the clear opening with the door open, then check the usable depth and height inside the cabinet. A cabinet’s advertised outside width is different from its opening. Hinges, a drawer above, plumbing and mounting hardware can reduce the space available. Use the cabinet-size filters to narrow the selection, then review the exact model’s measurements and installation instructions.

Find the setup that suits your routine

Compare bin capacity, number of bins, mounting style and closing action after confirming fit. Some systems attach to an existing cabinet door; others pull out behind a hinged door. Check each listing for included bins, door brackets and required accessories. Where an opening measurement is not supplied, confirm the installation requirements before ordering.

Choosing Trash & Recycling

Measure the clear cabinet opening, usable depth and height before choosing bin capacity. Confirm whether the system mounts to the door or operates behind a hinged door, and check which bins and brackets are included.
