What’s That Wednesday: SoftClose Damper

Got older cabients that slam? Many cabinets and cabinet hinges are now made with a soft close feature included. You’ve seen it in action I’m sure... when you go to your friend’s house with the cabinet doors that never slam shut. The ones that close slowly and softly no matter the pressure you use to close it.

Well, guess what? You don’t need to remodel your kitchen or install all new cabinets to enjoy the same features in your cabinets. There is a little something called a SoftClose add-on that will make all your dreams come true. It’s simply a damper that you install inside your cabinet that gives it the same feature as soft closing cabinet hinges but without the extra work and money. Many brands make soft close add-ons like this, but today we are featuring ROK’s very own SoftClose damper!

Benefits:
Lifetime warranty! As soft-closing cabinets aren’t enough, these bad boys come with a lifetime warranty. I love it when products come with lifetime warranties.
Easy installation. Installing the damper is so easy that your kid could probably do it. See the short, one-minute video above or the steps at the bottom of this article with instructions for installation.
Hardware included. The mounting screws needed for installation are included when you buy the dampers.
No more door slamming! If you have kids, this is an especially great investment for your peace of mind. Not only will it stop the loud noises from slamming doors, but you won’t have to worry about small fingers getting smashed. As an added benefit, soft-closing cabinets will increase the value of your kitchen and bathroom in the future as well.

To Keep in Mind:
ROK’s Soft Close dampers only work on cabinets with self-closing concealed hinges. These are the standard hinges used nowadays, but if you don’t know what kind of hinges you have, watch this short video or see this blog post to learn the differences.

These dampers work for face frame cabinets on all door overlays & frameless cabinets on full overlay doors.

Steps to Install the Soft Close Damper:

Remember, the video above explains it as well!

Step 1: Hold the damper in the corner of the cabinet on the side where the hinge is located.

Step 2: Screw the damper into place with a screwdriver or a drill (the screw is included!).

Step 3: Adjust the damper. At the back of the damper, you can twist a small piece to change its strength depending on how heavy your door is.
