To help you navigate this journey, we've created a detailed step-by-step guide that outlines the typical renovation sequence. Whether you're upgrading for functionality, aesthetics, or both, our guide will ensure you stay on track and avoid common pitfalls.

It's essential to complete steps before proceeding with your cabinetry installation to ensure a smooth and efficient renovation process. We've also partnered with top-rated installers, and if you choose to use their services, we can assist with scheduling to make your experience as hassle-free as possible.

Stay tuned as we walk you through each phase of the renovation, providing expert tips and insights to help you achieve the kitchen or bathroom of your dreams. Let's get started!

1. Electrical - As long as no electrical is being moved, it can be done before the cabinet demo. The electrical should be done after the demo if the electrical is being moved.

2. Demo - Anything you'd like to keep, such as faucets, sinks, hardware, etc, be sure to notify the demo guys.

3. Plumbing - Only move whatever needs to be moved according to the design.

4. Drywall - It's very important to ensure that drywall is finished and as level as possible. Otherwise, the cabinet, countertop, or backsplash installers will be unable to complete your installation and will have to return at a later date, typically resulting in additional delays and fees.

5. Painting Walls - This is the best time to paint so that it will not touch the cabinets, countertops, or grout. It will provide the cleanest finished look.

6. Cabinet Installation - Knobs and pulls should be on site (we suggest purchasing at least 2 weeks before the cabinet installation date). Also, knob and pull placement/positioning needs to be communicated to the installers. If you have an apron/farmhouse sink, it must also be on-site for cabinetry customization.

If these items are not on-site during cabinetry installation, you may face additional project delays and labor charges.

7. Flooring Installation - If tile is installed, it can be done after cabinetry. Everything other than tile can be installed before cabinetry. If flooring is not being installed under cabinetry, then wait until after cabinet installation. Most flooring installers do not cut the flooring close enough to the cabinets, which results in adding quarter-round molding around all of the bases of your cabinets. It doesn't look as clean. We recommend installing flooring other than tile before cabinets for a cleaner look.

8. Countertop Installation - We suggest having templating scheduled 1-2 days after cabinet installation. After the templates are made, it usually takes 1 week to fabricate and return to install your countertops.

Note: Countertop fabricators will mount and install your sink. They will not connect the plumbing.

Note 2: If your countertops are going up the wall to the ceiling and you are having floating shelves installed, the countertop installers should also mount the floating shelves.

9. Backsplash Installation - To be completed at this step, only if you are not installing countertops as backsplash.

10. Appliances & Plumbing Installation - Sinks and Faucets to be hooked up by a plumber and anything requiring a gas line. Under-sink plumbing hookups should be scheduled at LEAST 24 hours after countertop installation, to allow sink caulking to properly set & dry and prevent leaks. If you are purchasing new appliances, then the appliance vendor should have referrals for installation.

11. Touch-up Paint - Some areas of the wall may require re-painting after this entire process is completed.
