But, if you want to custom-stain your project instead, just use the natural base Timbermate and color it to your liking. Simply mix it to the desired color tone and then apply. Use it as a wood putty with a stiffer consistency, or mix it into a thin slurry and use it as a subtle grain filler.
Easy to Mix and Apply
You can mix Timbermate with cold or warm water, but warm water works best. If you add too much water just add more Timbermate. If, on the other hand, it is too thick just add more water to thin it. To apply the wood filler, you can use a spatula, putty knife, rag, squeegee, brush, or whatever you like that is appropriate for your desired consistency. The dried product is a cinch to sand without having to use much pressure or abrasion. The ease with which you can apply and sand Timbermate is such that it saves a considerable amount of time and elbow grease, while yielding highly professional results. Zero Waste

That’s not the case with Timbermate, which can be instantly reconstituted by adding plain water. Mix a batch, use what you need, store the excess away, and just rehydrate it with water to reconstitute it 100% for reuse. With Timbermate you can leave the lid off for years and it will still work fine–even if it is bone dry. Simply add water to revive it good as new.
Freeze-Thaw Stable
Applying a finish is the catalyst for permanently sealing Timbermate. But until you put a finish on it, Timbermate remains in that useable and reusable state. Even if the product is frozen solid, you can just warm it up and immediately work with it. It is completely freeze-thaw stable, so you can store it in a space that is not climate controlled. If it freezes and thaws multiple times the integrity of the product is not affected or compromised.
