Winter is coming fast (much too fast if you ask me). I grew up in Southern California so I never really had to worry much about winter coats or anything like that (I wore a sweatshirt once or twice a year, does that count?). But I live in Utah now, and it snowed here already last month—in September! If the rest of the country is experiencing an early winter too, then that means it’s time to get our coats out of storage.
Maybe this sounds petty, but it is what it is, and I’m going to say it. One of the things that annoys me most about winter is that coats and jackets are found everywhere. On the floor in my car, on the floor in my house, hanging over the staircase rail, hanging over the backs of chairs, stuffed inside the toy box, and the list goes on. Needless to say, I’ll be donating some coats this year to the local homeless shelter. But my point is that there’s only 3 people living in my house and we still don’t have enough space to hang all the things we want to hang. I know the coat problem is a real thing for many people with more kids. For example, my sister has 5 kids and they’ve all got plenty to store by the front door: each one has a winter coat, a light jacket, a backpack, a lunchbox, a snowsuit for sledding, a vest, a hat, and umbrella, oh the list goes on. My point is, so many people need help with a simple way to store all these bulky things without having to revamp their whole entire entryway. The solution is simple. It’s hooks. And they’re affordable, too.
ROK Hardware has a few options to offer.
Heavy Duty Coat Hook
This one is my personal favorite because it’s small, sturdy, attractive, and easy to install. It comes with the screws to install it, so all you need is a screwdriver. Also, it comes in 10 different colors, so it’s pretty easy to match with whatever sort of design you’re looking for.
- Price: $1.79

Sugatsune Swing Hook With Friction
Here’s another hook. This one is only offered in stainless steel, so it has the benefits of that, plus it swivels! But it’s not as attractive in my opinion. There are always the pros and cons.
- Price: $2.29
- Weight Capacity: 17 pounds
- Available Colors:

Features:
- Swivels
- Corrosion and oxidation resistant
Note: You can also get the above hook with a weight capacity of 26 pounds, but that one costs $3.16, and that’s just 16 cents too much for our $3 Thursday. ;-)
