  1. Hide Your Cords!

    Hide Your Cords!

In this age of technology, your outlets are bound to be knotted up with cords and chargers of all kinds. (In a few years I predict most chargers will be cordless, but that just isn’t the case yet. So, for now, let’s talk about a solution). If you want to keep from having a messy-looking desk, nightstand, or kitchen counter, then you'll have to find a way to keep your cords organized without having to unplug them, wrap them up, and put them away after every use.

It bothers me that whenever I clean my living room, it never truly feels clean because the cords are so messy-looking! And along with TV cords, there are probably certain cords that

  2. 7 Signs You Should Invest in Kitchen Remodeling

7 Signs You Should Invest in Kitchen Remodeling

I was staying at a family member’s house recently. When I opened the microwave to warm up my son’s breakfast, I was quite surprised to find the microwave filled with pots, pans, and plastic storage containers.. When I asked about it, I was told, “Well, there’s not enough space to store them anywhere else!” That’s when you know it’s time for a kitchen remodel. I’ve seen people store things in their ovens, too! But that’s just one of the many problems people come across when their kitchens aren’t truly functional. Here are some more tips to help you know if it's time to remodel your kitchen.

  3. Back to School Closet Organization

    Back to School Closet Organization

School is in session and parents everywhere are going crazy, especially in the mornings before carpools show up and kids have to be out the door and off to school. Checklists include things like: make sure homework is done, put it in backpacks, eat breakfast, brush teeth, find matching socks, get dressed. The list goes on and on. And then for those of you who live in a place with all four seasons, you have so many accessories to worry about too (jackets, scarves, gloves, boots, beanies, etc.). I may not have a solution for all of your kid’s morning routine problems, but we do have a solution for at least a couple! It’s a simple closet organization. An organized closet can not only make less work for your kids, but for you too! Anything to help reduce stress in my house is a welcomed consideration. Most kids, up until a certain age, need help finding clothes to wear in the morning—at least clothes that match. And some

  4. Benefits of Ready To Assemble (RTA) Cabinets

Benefits of Ready To Assemble (RTA) Cabinets

Maybe you’re building a new home. Maybe you're remodeling. Maybe you have cabinet damage from a natural disaster or mold or any other problem. Whatever it is, if you need new cabinets, you should consider RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets as your newest home addition.

When planning to get new cabinets, you have three main options: ready to assemble cabinets, pre-assembled (or assembled) cabinets, and custom cabinets. Below are the specs for each type. As you read, keep in mind that installation of cabinets is a separate process and price than assembling the cabinets. Technically, cabinet installers need to be licensed (most general contractors are). But ROK offers a list of their trusted installers for their customers who are interested.

  5. How to Care for Your Wood Cabinets

How to Care for Your Wood Cabinets

    All-Wood Cabinets

The most important thing you can do to keep your cabinets looking nice is to clean up any spills immediately after they happen. Don’t wait until food or liquid gets hard or crusted on before cleaning it off. Once that happens, cleaning becomes a little more difficult. But it’s not just about the fact that it’s more difficult to get the actual mess off. If left on your cabinets for too long, there is the possibility of discoloration and stains.

Spills can usually be wiped away with a warm, damp rag and mild dishwashing soap. Make sure to dry it afterward.

How To Get a Fresh Look Without Spending Lots of Money

Your home should be a place where you feel happy and comfortable. This is especially important if you spend a lot of time at home. Whether you’re a stay-at-home parent or you work from home (or both, like me), then making your home a place where you feel happy is pretty important for your mental health.

So if you want to make some changes or need a way to spice up the look of your home—or even just one room—without spending loads of money, then here are a few ideas. Even just picking one of these ideas could help your home go from drab to fab.

  7. How to Fill in Cabinet Holes (or Cracks, Dents, and Chips)

How to Fill in Cabinet Holes (or Cracks, Dents, and Chips)

If you want an updated kitchen, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money, changing out the cabinet hardware is an inexpensive, yet successful way to do it. I’ve talked about this the "How to Install Cup Pulls"  blog post, but I didn’t go over how to fill in the holes left behind after removing the old hardware.

Whether you’re switching out cabinet knobs for pulls or changing the placement of your knobs/pulls or replacing hinges, you’ll probably need to fill the old holes. But how?! I have always known that filling in wall holes was easy. But wood cabinets seemed difficult, if not impossible.

Not so! The easiest option in my opinion is to use Timbermate wood filler. It is seriously so simple! And aside from its simplicity, it works well and it’s affordable.
